
COACHING
All Telopea squads train afternoons at the 50m pool at Phillip. As well the senior squad trains in the morning at the indoor 50m heated pool at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Deakin.

Les has been coaching with Peter Freney since 1986 and is an ASTCA Level 2 coach. He assumed the role of Telopea's Head Coach in October 2002. He was the coach for the Australian swimming team to the World Disabled Swimming Championships in Malta in 1994. Les was also ACT team coach for the Pacific School Games in Perth in 1996. He has been the coach for the ACT team at the Australian Primary School and Secondary School Swimming Championships since 1997 and was the ACT coach again for the Pacific School Games held in Sydney in May, 2000. In February 2001, Les was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for significant contribution to swimming. Once again, Les was off to Perth in September 2001 as coach of the ACT team at the Australian Secondary School Swimming Championships, and in 2002 to Darwin as coach of the ACT team for the combined Primary & Secondary Schools Championships. Les is the coach of the ACT swimming team in 2008 PSG. |

Jan joined the coaching team at Telopea in 2001 having previously been Head Coach at the neighbouring Queanbeyan Leagues Swimming Club in NSW and Assistant Coach at Unigym Swimming School at the University of NSW. Jan has been involved in swimming in the ACT for at least 20 years and comes to us with a wealth of swimming knowledge. Jan is an accredited Level 2 coach and has been Team Manager for the ACT School Sports Association, Australian Primary Swimming Exchange and the Pacific School Games. Jan has a degree in Education from the University of Canberra and a Diploma in Business Management. |
